Lexus Safety System + integrates several advanced technologies to create a standard suite of safety features that ultimately will be offered on the entire Lexus vehicle lineup. These features include Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection function, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beam and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
This advanced Lexus safety system works automatically and can help you avoid a frontal collision or decrease the severity of a frontal impact.
Lane Departure Alert is a system designed to warn a driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane (unless a turn signal is on in that direction) on freeways and city roads with visible line markings.
Intelligent High Beam allows the driver to concentrate on the road by automatically switching between high and low beams, depending on the current driving situation.
On highways and freeways, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to detect a vehicle ahead and determine its speed. It then automatically adjusts your vehicle speed (within a set range) to help maintain a comfortable driving experience.
Pre-Collision System (PCS)with Pedestrian Detection Function
This system uses a grill-mounted radar and a camera to help detect pedestrians and vehicles under certain conditions. When detected, this system activates an audio and visual alert in addition to brake assist if the driver applies the brakes, followed by automatic braking, if the driver does not brake in time.
PCS helps to prevent or mitigate collisions.
The PCS is a device premised on safe driving by the driver. It is not a system that will avoid a collision under all conditions, so do not depend on the system or use it in place of normal braking operations. Also, if the driver is pressing on the brake or turning the steering wheel, the system judges this to be avoidance operation by the driver depending on the operation conditions, and automatic braking may not operate.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA)w/Steering Assist
This system is designed to use a camera to detect white and yellow lane markings. If the vehicle starts to deviate from a lane, LDA W/STEERING ASSIST alerts the driver with an audio-visual alert and steering wheel vibration. Some vehicles are also equipped with Lane Keep Assist, which helps control steering to make it easier for the driver to remain within lane markings.
LDA W/STEERING ASSIST helps prevent vehicles from departing from their lanes.
The LDA W/STEERING ASSIST system recognizes visible lane markers and provides information to the driver. The system does not operate if it cannot recognize lane markers. Furthermore, if lane markers cannot be correctly recognized, there may be cases where an unneeded Driver Alert sound is activated, the driver needs to pay continuous attention to surrounding conditions and operate the steering wheel to correct the course of the vehicle.
Intelligent High Beam
This system uses a camera to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the taillights of vehicles ahead, and then automatically switches between high beams and low beams so as not to distract other drivers.
Intelligent High Beam helps provide forward visibility during nighttime and inclement weather driving.
INTELLIGENT HIGH BEAM is a system that supports and assists maintaining driver’s visibility. There are limits to the high-beam automatic control using INTELLIGENT HIGH BEAM. It is necessary to continue to pay attention to your surroundings and directly confirm safety of surroundings through turning high beams ON and OFF manually as needed.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
This system uses a grill-mounted radar designed to detect the preceding vehicle and determine its speed. It then adjusts vehicle speed (within a set range) to help maintain a preset distance between vehicles. The driver can adjust the following distance via a convenient steering wheel-mounted control.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control increases the ease of highway driving.
DRCC is a system primarily for driving on expressways and highways. With regards to traffic conditions on general roads, there are cases where it cannot operate appropriately and could lead to an accident, so do not use it. In addition, there are limits to its ability to control distance between vehicles and deceleration control. Even while using DRCC, the driver needs to remain alert at all times, decelerate and accelerate manually, and pay attention to the surroundings and the distance between vehicles with the leading vehicle.
